In every idyll there is also a threat. Leon and Felix are on their way to a magical place, on a lonely forest path, when their car breaks down. Felix continues on foot, looking for the house in a clearing that is their destination. Leon stays behind and soon his fear is palpable – although there is nothing to fear. Not yet. This beginning gives Christian Petzolds new Movie “Red Sky” the tone of a romantic gothic novel. On the surface it may look like French champion Éric Rohmer’s vacation dream relocated to the Baltic Sea, but there is danger in the air.
