The journalist Robert Ziegler is now going on vacation for a longer period of time. Before that, the 57-year-old had offered the director of ORF his resignation as state director of the broadcaster in Lower Austria on Thursday evening, and he immediately accepted it – with some relief, as can be assumed. Because that saves Ziegler’s boss, Roland Weißmann, who came into office as general director in 2021 on an ÖVP ticket, from a possibly embarrassing argument. About whether he proposes a colleague close to the ÖVP to the highest decision-making body in the public broadcaster, the Foundation Council, which in turn is dominated by the ÖVP.
