Before that, the 57-year-old had offered the director of ORF his resignation as state director of the broadcaster in Lower Austria on Thursday evening, and he immediately accepted it – with some relief, as can be assumed. Because that saves Ziegler’s boss, Roland Weißmann, who came into office as general director in 2021 on an ÖVP ticket, from a possibly embarrassing argument.
