The MDR will in future be managed by an administrative specialist. The 54-year-old Ralf Ludwig just barely achieved the required two-thirds majority in the Broadcasting Council on Monday, he was the only candidate for the successor the outgoing artistic director Karola Wille. 33 of the 48 members present voted for Ludwig, twelve voted against him and three abstained. Before his election, Ludwig announced a six-point plan, saying he wanted to build people’s trust in reporting and bring back what was lost. Ludwig takes office in November, he is elected for six years.
