A merit allowed Jan Böhmermann and his team can definitely claim for themselves: They have sensitized their audience to the conditions in a country that is geographically close, but for many represents a kind of black box socially and politically. The multi-ethnic state of Bosnia-Herzegovina, which emerged from the collapse of the former multi-ethnic state of Yugoslavia with mass murder, expulsion and rape, is still a sometimes grotesquely complex state whose structures can even drive those who are somehow supposed to make it work into resignation.
